CableCard – Tivo - and late breaking news

Wow, busy night.. I have traded lots of emails with both Shannon@Tivo and Frank@Comcast Executive Offices.

Comcast has NOT stopped supporting TiVo or any other CableCard related devices, this was a huge mix-up. In fact, according to Frank, Comcast has been working with the consumer electronics industry to create new products and a new method to allow 2 way communications between devices and Comcast. Frank assured me that your HD TiVo's are safe and will be happily supported into the future. Frank sent along a URL for everyone to checkout.

I sent Micah the good news and he should be receiving a call to get his TiVo HD all hooked up.

This makes sense as Comcast and TiVo are rolling out TiVo software on Comcast boxes in the Boston Area as we speak. I think this is a good move for Comcast as their previous software is not good, in fact its REALLY bad. I look forward to readers giving me a review of how that experience is.

For now, please let me know if you have problems (at least in Colorado) getting CableCard support. Comcast fully supports these devices, including TiVo, and if you run into any problem I will hook you up with Frank!
